Gorran PreSchool

Parent partnership

At Gorran Pre-School Hoglets we rely on a good relationship with parents and your support is vital for our continued growth.

We welcome your ideas and involvement and would love you to play an active role with your child's Pre-School.

There are many ways you can be involved:

  • You could join our fundraising committee – we appreciate any input you can give, however big or small, from taking the minutes at meetings to organising fantastic fundraisers!
  • You could come along on one of our outings as parent help – we have some great trips out!
  • When you drop off or collect your child, come in and have a look at our displays and ask your child what they did – the children and staff will love your input.
  • Perhaps you have a particular interest or job you could come and talk about and share with the children? We have had many occupations in the past, from Doctors to Farmers, National Trust Wardens to Artists, and this forms an important part of the children exploring their environment.
  • Perhaps you have an idea for a craft project or cooking activity that you might be able to come in and do with the children?
  • You can try to participate in our home links – we love to see what your children have been doing at home and the children enjoy bringing a little bit of home into the setting.
  • Help our finances by paying subs promptly and supporting our fundraisers!

In the everyday sense it is also greatly appreciated if, when dropping off your child, you ensure that you haven't parked in any bus bays or blocked any gates. Also, that you make sure that the School and Pre-School gates are kept closed behind you at all times – we endeavor to keep your children safe and secure at all times and need your help to achieve this.

Pre-School starts at 8.45am. This is when we register the children and it would help if everybody was on time, otherwise they may miss vital elements of the morning routine. Sitting nicely, putting names up on the wall, letters and sounds, signing, running through days of the week and looking at the weather all form an important part of the beginning of each session so it is beneficial to everyone that they start on time.

Starting at Pre-School can be daunting for some children, who may feel the anxiety of separation from their parents. If your child is having difficulties settling then please do speak to us about things we can put in place to help, (perhaps they could bring a favorite toy or comforter?), and feel free to stay for as long as is needed.

Each child is assigned a keyworker for the duration of their time with us, who parents are free to talk to at any time. We hold parent consultations throughout the year, where we can show you your child's learning journal (an app called tapestry) and discuss their progress or any concerns you may have.

Here are some quotes from parents past and present:

"I love how Supportive pre-school is to the children and parents and how care is tailored to each individual childs needs."
"Thankyou, you do an incredible job!"
